Dr. Mariola Kowalik, DMDMemberI am finishing my first case. How many mm of inrtaradicular space is necessary for placing future implants?
What is the best way to measure and evaluate the intraradicular distance in 2DJanuary 2, 2021 at 4:06 am #2934
Dr. David L. Rever, DDSMemberMost “conventional” (i.e. not “mini” overdenture type) implants are a minimum diameter of 3.2mm, and ideally should have 2mm of space between the implant and adjacent teeth on each side. So should have a total of 7.2 mm. Most digital 2D x-ray systems have a measurement function which should give you a good idea of space.

Dr. Mariola Kowalik, DMDMemberThank you Dr Rever. Looking at the panorex I see that the intraarticular dastans is 2mm short on left side. Can you give me any suggestions how to correct it?
Thank you in advance.

Dr. David L. Rever, DDSMemberThat somewhat depends on the system you use, but usually would be accomplished by either coil spring or elastic link to push or pull the tooth in the desired direction.
February 5, 2021 at 8:10 pm #2980Dear Mariola, Center or off-center bend on a .o18 SS arch wire pointing gingivally. This configuration will bring crowns together and roots apart. In order to prevent crowns moving together you MUST place an open coil spring or tight closed coil spring in order to crystallize the position of the crowns. If it is a centre bend you will have equal and opposite moments without any intrusive or extrusive forces. Also, please ligature tie the brackets on the teeth in juxtaposition of the space where the tooth is missing.
