Mulligan Mechanics Part XVIII  Off –  Center Bend – Root Control

The author is presenting a 36-year-old Caucasian male, with a true maxillary dentoalveolar protrusion and severe crowding.  The mandible is within the norm. The chief complaint was, “my upper front teeth are too far forward, too crowded and I cannot keep my lips together.”

The treatment comprised of odontectomy of maxillary first bicuspids, TADs and Straight wire appliance.  The sequence was as follows:

  1. Odontectomy of #14(5) & #24(12)
  2. Placement of TADs
  3. Bonding the power arms on #13(6) & #23(11)
  4. Driftodontics – retraction with Elastomeric chains without a wire
  5. Placement of the Off-center bend on the sectional a .016 SS wire
  6. Placement of the In-bend on the sectional a .018 SS wire
  7. Placement of the Lingual intra
  8. Continuation of the treatment with the SWA
